Berea College Students, Faculty, and Staff, join the Berea FIRE Program on Saturday, November 20th at 5 pm for our last book club meeting of the semester! We will be discussing Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas at the Carter G. Woodson Center. Wider-Berea Community members can join us on Zoom at 5 pm on Sunday, November 21st. We’ve given out over 15 free copies so far, so the discussions will be great!
A Free EPUB version of the book will be sent to those who register. SIGN UP FORM BELOW Follow Berea Fire on FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM. Fueling an Intersectional Reading Experience (FIRE) is a program designed to facilitate reading groups based around intersectional theory to help participants connect their own lived experiences to the theory, alongside supplemental readings. Critical examinations on race, gender, and class will be emphasized. This program hopes to connect Berea College students with the wider Berea Community and help develop all progressive forces. Our program meets once a month with assigned readings and sometimes extra events based around other forms of media (films/music/discussions/etc.) |
Won't You Be My Neighbor, Berea? is a new community initiative launching in October. We will explore maintaining social connection in the midst of a pandemic, learn about our unique history, gather stories, create together, and reinforce that our diversity makes us strong and resilient.
